Listservs, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo Groups, and other networking services are great ways to connect with other gifted individuals and families. Whether you choose to actively participate, search archived posts and transcripts, or simply "lurk," there's a wealth of information available to the gifted community. Listed below are some of the forums we at PAGES recommend as excellent starting points. For a more comprehensive list, please visit Hoagies.

#gtchat - Every Friday at noon and 7 p.m. (EST), parents, teachers, and gifted advocates from all over the world gather on Twitter to take part in a global #gtchat. This new, real-time forum allows participants to share resources, ideas, experiences, and new ways of thinking about gifted issues. To learn more and find out how you can participate, go to www.ingeniosus.net/gtchat.

GT World - currently operates five mailing lists. These venues provide the opportunity to converse asynchronously about gifted issues. The ability to post a statement or a question at one's convenience and continue the conversation later, after others have responded, seems to be a popular option in our busy lives:
  1. GT-Families - for families raising gifted children.
  2. GT-Special - all gifted children are special because of their intellectual abilities. Some, however, have disabilities that make them twice-special. Parents/guardians, educators and mentors, and medical and mental health care providers who are facing the joys and challengers of supporting and nurturing these children are most welcome here.
  3. GT-Spec-Home - this discussion group is devoted to families who are homeschooling or considering homeschooling their twice-exceptional (twice-special) children.
  4. GT-Adults - this list is for adults who share an interest in exploring issues related to being a gifted adult, discovering giftedness as an adult, or growing up gifted (whether or not recognized as such during childhood).
  5. GT-Talk - this list is for adults who share an interest in exploring issues not directly related to being a gifted adult. It is for the discussion and debate of issues which are off-topic on the support oriented GT-Adults, but which many gifted adults feel a need to discuss among similarly intellectually-oriented peers.
TAGFAM - offers three support communities and one advocacy forum for families and individuals who by virtue of their intellectual abilities, their intellectual giftedness (high IQ), are different. These mailing lists allow you to keep in touch and talk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
  1. TAGFAM - for families with children in traditional schools.
  2. TAGMAX - for families providing a home education for their children, whether full-time or as an adjunct to regular schooling.
  3. TAGPDQ - for families needing radical educational and social accommodations for their children.
  4. TAGFORUM - for announcements and debates relating to advocacy and legislative affairs.
Gifted Homeschoolers Forum (GHF) - Supports gifted homeschoolers in the U.S. and around the world through education, advocacy, community, and support. Their yahoo group, GiftedHF,  is an active community with hundreds of posts each month.
